I tried EVE, it didn't manage to hold my interest for very long at all. That makes it (in my utterly personal and biased opinion!) a bad game. Countless other games have provided me with more fun than EVE, and fun is what I play games for. Your mileage may vary (and obviously does!) but clearly having to play a game for a year before it gets good is a really bad sign. Hell, I'd say even 30 minutes would be too much.
